Solar Powered Tiki Torch Review

I have just bought a solar powered tiki torch. I read about it at Buy a Better Life. It is just great. Such a simple idea, I wonder why nobody thought of it before.

Like many people, I'm interested in Green issues and I want to save money and the world by using renewable green energy instead of electricity that comes from a fossil fuel burning power plant. I don't, however, have the thousands of dollars necessary or the technical know-how to buy and install solar panels or a wind turbine.

The solar powered tiki torch only cost me $19 and it does what it claims. The two batteries charge by using solar power during the day, while the light is off, and the light comes on in the evening when it starts getting dark. The batteries continue to charge with available night light as well, including its own. That's the beauty of modern solar cells; they can charge from any available light.

I have the light placed outside my garage where I park my car (which I try not to use too much). Before this, I used a regular electricity draining external light.

The soft glow from my tiki torch is enough for me to see where to park and light up my way to my front door. Brilliant. It requires no maintenance and comes on automatically.

It saves me money and it looks good. I really like the way it gives off a sort of glimmering light that feels really organic. Not a harsh glare like you often get from light bulbs.

Now I'm thinking of getting some for my garden and having some friends around for drinks and a BBQ. At $19 each for a solar powered tiki torch, I can be green, look cool and save a whole lot of money.
