Mission Console Table Ideas
Mission console tables have never been so popular, perhaps because they are a simple classic design and come in so many different types of wood finishes, from oak to cherry to the most natural unfinished pine styles.
Flat Panel Television Stand Console
There are even some new additions to the idea of a console table, that is not just a decorative piece of furniture but a table with a purpose like for using as a television stand or for housing CDs and DVDs in a cabinet below a plasma or flat screen above, instead of the classic mirror.
One of these is the Martin Furniture Mission Pasadena Tall Console Flat Panel Television Stand from Kathy Ireland by Martin, which is a mission inspired finish on rustic hardwood that sells for about $750. It is not your average console table because it has a closed cabinet with glass doors. What makes it a console table is that it is narrow and fits snug against a wall. This compliment to a flat screen TV is designed specifically to have a piece of console furniture below the plasma TV or to act as an LCD TV stand.
Console Tables Designed for Plasma TV
There's another similar piece of console furniture that is made by Leslie Dame Enterprises and also has a glass door mission style console cabinet that is finished in either red walnut or oak and is likewise designed for a plasma TV to be mounted above the unit. It's a little more reasonably priced at about $400 but is equally a complete console entertainment furniture design.
There are some mission entertainment console tables that go well with a stereo system or a TV. One is the Anthony Lauren low mission entertainment console that is simple but classic and can fit nicely into a bedroom because it's so low, for viewing movies from the comfort of your bed, with this little console below, or at the foot of the bed. It's really a gorgeous unit, but it's a bit expensive at about $1,400. It is solid oak and that's probably why it's more expensive than some other models that only have an oak veneer.
Traditional Mission Console Table Choices
More traditional and classically mission style is the Linon Sofa Table that costs less than $150 which has a stylish beige pine finish.
There is another great buy from L.L. Bean, which is a hall console table that also has some storage space although it is mostly a decorative piece. It costs less than $350 and can be used in a hall or behind a sofa or even as a place to store home office supplies because it has a drawer and a little shelf. It's also good for books or music. It's not very long, so it will fit in small spaces.
