Kitchen Stools, Islands and 5 Quick Décor Tips

Looking for a way to redecorate your home without spending a fortune? Investing in a set of kitchen stools and a matching island can provide the fresh look you require on a budget, whatever room you are buying for. It doesn't matter who you are or what your income level is, you’re probably feeling the pinch of hard times and searching for ways to cut corners without giving up the lifestyle you want. Many people are finding that entertaining at home is one means to reduce costs while not dramatically altering their social lives.

In some cases, people have decided to upgrade or redecorate their homes, remodel their basements or redesign their kitchens to offer better functionality, and that in the long run, the expense of such undertakings is justified in two ways – by immediate savings through entertaining at home instead of going out and by increasing equity or home value in the long term picture.

Here are five ways to inexpensively make your home a better place to entertain and hold dinner parties, while increasing the value of your home:

  1. Basement renovation that will create a second kitchen, perhaps with an island and kitchen stools to accommodate guests, or simply a bar table and seating for cocktail style entertaining. The uses of a basement for entertaining are endless and if you have a simple set of folding kitchen stools, some card tables, an area rug or two and adequate lighting, your basement may quickly take on the shape of a game room. Naturally a full bar with tables, a bar counter and swivel bar stools is ideal, but there are inexpensive variations on this theme, like the portable island bars and stools that cost from a few hundred to several thousand, and are totally ready to assemble and use without any construction or structural redesigning required.
  2. Kitchen renovation may include counter height seats or a breakfast bar stool to an existing counter or adding tall kitchen dinettes to accommodate breakfast stools that, in fact, can be used for lunch and quick family dinners as well. Your kitchen look and feel can be totally altered by the style of seating you select, be it a retro chrome number or a tall, sleek counter stool with adjustable air lift, or even a set of wooden or saddle stools or French country theme seats with pine or oak that have backs and fabric cushions.
  3. Converting a den, attic or loft into a place for extra seating with a theme that may incorporate modern or retro stools, wooden saddle stools or even a set of folding stools with small tables and simple area rugs.
  4. Dining room redecorating to include more versatile leather seating and/or wooden stools to accommodate more people around a table with a foldout leaf. Cherry wood kitchen chairs and elaborate stools with backs and plush padded seats often make a great accent to a dining room without making it appear cluttered. Chairs that are not used can be placed in corners as decorative pieces.
  5. Outdoor extensions can be created by placing water-resistant kitchen chairs or specifically designed teak wood stools or a metal set around a patio table or in a garden to be able to entertain outdoors. Many are adding outdoor patio covers to decks and porches to have an enclosure where they can use patio heaters and heat lamps to continue entertaining even in winter months. In these cases, metal bar stool styles may include wrought iron legs or iron pedestals that have twisting garden-like designs.
